Home and the Range
A little too busy a day for me. This entire week has been spent dealing with asbestos contamination that has shut down our records center at work (235,000 cubic feet of records unavailable to anyone). I also had to FedEx a couple copies of a rental contract back to Erin's realtor and make it to a doctor's appointment with an ENT. My workday ended at 7 pm, twelve hours after I left home in the morning.
But in the middle of this, Tim gave me a call and told me that Sears had called to schedule the delivery of our dishwasher and gas range this Sunday. That timing wasn't quite fortuitous, since we're leaving on Sunday for Queens, taking Erin a few of the items for her new apartment. And we won't return until Monday, which is a holiday. So Nancy had to call Sears and reschedule delivery for February 25th, which should be at least a month before the contractor will be ready for these two appliances.

I searched for pictures of these appliances tonight--using my vague memories from a couple of months ago--and I think the above is the range we've purchased. It's a gas range--we're switching from electric--and my favorite feature is that it has five burners beneath a system of tall grates that covers the entire top of the range. Here's Sears' description of the machine:

I'm sure this is the right dishwasher. It is simple inside--has no fancy features on either of its racks, and catches the food waste in a little basket we will have to extract and empty from time to time. But it hides the buttons on the top of the door, leaving exposed nothing but clean stainless steel and a handle. This will be a perfect addition to our stainless steel kitchen. Luckily, after all the craziness of today (none of the details of which I've recounted here), my night ended calmly: with a flat tire.
