Our Other Woodpiles

Along with the pile of firewood Tim and I created on our back porch--and which has given off so much moisture that the insides of the windows there are entirely covered with a thick white frost--we have also created two other woodpiles.


Wood Waiting for the Contractor to Haul Away
The first is our pile of rejected wood that we want the contractor to haul away for us. This wood is remarkably dry and useless. Much of it consists of two-by-fours used to hold the basement cabinets and closets in place.


Wood Reclaimed from Basement Closets and Cabinets
The second pile is the pile of wood that we are keeping, in case I can use it to repair water- and mold-damaged parts of the basement's back wall. So this is what we have been reduced to: scavengers within our own home!
