Day Fourteen: Holes, or And Then There Was One

Too tired to say much tonight, so I'll tell you quickly about the surprises of today's part of the renovation.


In Place of a Back Door
First, the back door is gone and filled in with a piece of plywood. Glad to see the old door gone. Also, the small awning over the door is gone.


What Used to be the Back Door
All of the debris from this door ended up piled on the deck for now.


Huth Plaque (about to Move)
This plaque that we use to help obscure an ugly opening in the siding will be moved tomorrow, because the electrician Chris will be removing this electrical service and putting in a new 200-amp service. I'm really looking forward to the beginning of the improvements of the electrical service.


Pipe Chase by the Fireplace
Nancy was home for a short while in the morning, and she found Tom preparing to put a hole by the fireplace for a pipe chase. She chose this spot for the hole.


Temporary Pseudo-Framing in the Kitchen
Dave and John set up this pseudo-framing at either side of the real framing so that they could hold up the house as they take away the weight-bearing wall of the kitchen and fit in a flush beam to hold up the house.


Holes in the Bathroom for the Bathtub
Tom, apparently, drilled these holes in the kitchen floor. These will feed the pipes that bring water to Nancy's big soaking tub.


The Waterstained Bathroom Floor
Another picture of the waterstaining around the bathtub, because I'm amazed at how far it spreads. Also, I thought the picture of the hole in the floor (the hole where the toilet used to be) was just too boring.

Oh, yes, the toilet is now gone from the second floor, and so is the toilet from the basement, so all we have is the toilet on the third floor.
